Equity Bank Group  CEO, Dr. James Mwangi emphasized that it is time that Kenya stopped its overeliance on rain fed agriculture noting that due to the climatic changes small scale farmers only produce a  sixth of what others produce yet they.operate in the same market thus putting them at a disadvantage.

He hailed the NISIP Anoting that it clearly spells out how financing partners  can come together to enhance the productivity of small scale farmers through blended financing under farmer led irrigation development (FLID)

He noted that it is critical that 
Government comes in to reduce the risk of  investing in small scale farmers through capacity building and  development of irrigation infrastructure development.

Dr. Mwangi added that Equity Bank has built over 20 iirrigatiin schemes through partnership with the Government and KFW.
