Once fully operational, the scheme will directly benefit 1,250 farmers and inject new economic energy into the region by creating an estimated 3,125 direct jobs and another 6,250 indirect opportunities.
Farmers will soon have the capacity to produce a diverse range of crops, including horticultural varieties such as cabbage, kales, spinach, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, carrots, garden peas, baby corn, courgettes, French beans, brinjals, chillies, capsicum, and a variety of indigenous vegetables. The project also supports the cultivation of pineapples and the production of fodder for livestock.
Beyond enhancing agricultural productivity, the Kanyuambora Irrigation Project is expected to play a vital role in strengthening food security and driving wealth creation for the surrounding communities.
